Top 5 character stories in Street Fighter 5!

The Street Fighter franchise has rarely received acclaim for how it handles its stories. While the original Street Fighter 2 entry got a lot of praise for the 8 different endings, and even the Alpha games (Zero in Japan) were somewhat well thought of, since the mid-1990s some of the plot threads in this long-running series have been laughably bad.

Unless you've played through all 45 character story modes in Street Fighter 5, you may have missed some of the better plot threads. We highlight the top 5 entries in the game below.

The launch roster of 16 characters mostly had throwaway story modes, as it didn't seem that Capcom had enough characters to work with to really flesh out some people's story lines. As such, only one character from the original cast managed to make it into our top 5.

A few of the other characters focus on the death of M. Bison, which has been confirmed by several of the combatants, and should have interesting implications for the future of the franchise, as we know M. Bison and Shadaloo are no where to be found at the end of Street Fighter 3, which is the end of the timeline so far — for the most part. Some events in Street Fighter 5 actually take place after SF3, but they're few and far between.

There's a fairly large gap of things that happens off-screen between the events of SF5 and SF3, and the characters who bridge these gaps are a solid focus of this list, as they're able to address the main plot threads of the franchise and help us understand quite a bit of what happens over those years.
