Street Fighter 6 Overview: Dhalsim

ree

Dhalsim was first confirmed to be a playable character in Street Fighter 6 on September 15, 2022. He was revealed alongside Blanka, E. Honda, and Ken in a full gameplay trailer at Tokyo Game Show 2022.

The yoga master made his first video game appearance on February 6, 1991 as one of the original eight fighters in Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior. His popularity secured him a spot on the launch rosters for Street Fighter 4 and Street Fighter 5, with Street Fighter 6 marking the fourth main series Street Fighter game he has been a part of.

Dhalsim looks like more of a seasoned master of yoga than ever in Street Fighter 6. He sports a long white beard and removes his turban once again for battle, while also receiving a new outfit and accessory on his chest.

Hailing from India, Dhalsim lives the life of a monk and a yoga master who has served as a guide for countless suffering souls. Whenever he can, he opts to avoid conflict, but his hatred of evil compels him to stay in the fight.

Street Fighter 6's director Takayuki Nakayama describes Dhalsim as "a tricky fighter with extremely long reach" who is a master of controlling fire. His prominent and unique stretchy limbs are back in action in this installment of the classic fighting game series, and they look more devastating than ever thanks to the game's new Drive Rush mechanic.

His fire attacks are also more potent than ever before as he comes equipped with all of the options a Dhalsim player could ever want in battle. Dhalsim can utilize his Yoga Fire, which travels horizontally like his classic projectile, but also harness Yoga Arch, a fireball that travels in a trajectory similar to his Street Fighter 5 projectiles.

New to his arsenal is his Yoga Comet, an air fireball that travels diagonally down-forward creating even more ways to set up his offense. He can also use his Yoga Flame, Yoga Blast, teleport, and float maneuver in combat.
