So Isla is totally another Jojo reference right?

The influence of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure on fighting games cannot be understated with SNK being one of the most prevalent and consistent developers calling back to the manga franchise, and it looks like they're keeping that tradition going strong.
With Isla finally receiving her gameplay trailer for The King of Fighters 15 earlier this week, it quickly became apparent that she too looks to be full of Jojo references.
The stylish newcomer's got a black hat, purple disembodied fists, points to make them attack and has a habit of keeping her hands in her pockets whenever possible.
Sound familiar to anyone else?
It's really seeming like the developers took a decent amount of inspiration for Isla from the bad boy Jotaro Kujo himself, the main protagonist of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Part 3: Stardust Crusaders.
Hell, the references may even start in her official character portrait where she's shown pulling down the bill of her hat in a similar — but not identical — way to one of Jotaro's most iconic poses.

The whole pointing thing is another trademark of the third Jojo in particular where he does so to send out his Stand, Star Platinum, who also happens to be purple too.
Without direct confirmation of their intentions from the developers, we can't say for sure all of these were on purpose, but SNK does have a long history of calling back to Hirohiko Araki's work in their fighters.
Benimaru is probably KOF's most famous case because his core design is nearly identical to Polnareff, also from Stardust Crusaders, though that's far from the only time they've brought in some Jojo love.

Leona's Heart Attack earring bomb is an obvious nod to Killer Queen's Sheer Heart Attack ability from Part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable while her Grateful Dead Desperation Move shares a name with a stand from Part 5 and has almost identical powers.
Isla may not be running around shouting 'ORAORAORAORAORAORA', but we've already seen similar battle cries from Mian and Shun'ei in the past as well.
Even Rock Howard got his Jojo pose on in The King of Fighters 14.
So if you ask 'is Isla a Jojo reference', the answer is probably yes.
