Resident Evil Village Is Reportedly The Middle Chapter In A Trilogy

Resident Evil Village is reportedly the middle chapter in an all-new, carefully plotted trilogy. Resident Evil 9 is also already in development.

The hotly anticipated Resident Evil Village is just under a month away from releasing, but it likely won't be a definitive finale to Ethan Winters' story. Rumors are suggesting that Resident Evil Village is the middle chapter of a planned trilogy from Capcom, but details for the next game are scarce at the moment.

Although Capcom has been keeping the story for the upcoming horror sequel under wraps, there will be plenty of new elements. For starters, Resident Evil Village features a very tall vampire lady that has captured the hearts and minds of many fans. The series has distanced itself from its zombie origins in recent years, but Village will be the first to lean in to other horror mythologies by including werewolves, witches, and the aforementioned vampires. It's not totally clear how noteworthy these characters will be, but it does lend itself to a new era for Resident Evil.

Resident Evil 7 was a soft reboot for the series, taking it into a first-person perspective and playing with franchise tropes in new ways. It also seemingly re-introduced classic characters in a new way, possibly suggesting they're not the same as the ones in previous games. With fans eagerly awaiting the new Resident Evil Village demo to find out more about the upcoming game, a reputable leaker known as Dusk Golem has revealed that there's much more to the sequel than meets the eye. Resident Evil Village is the middle chapter in a planned trilogy and could result in Resident Evil 9 coming sooner rather than later, if all goes well.
