PS Plus Free Games for 2021 Began the Year With a Bang, But December May End It With a Whimper!

As it stands, it’s been a pretty good year for PS Plus. Most of the PS5 games have been new-to-PS5 releases, while big titles like Final Fantasy 7 Remake, A Plague Tale: Innocence, Control: Ultimate Edition, Greedfall, and far more have also graced the PS Plus service.
However, it should be noted that most of these good graces were delivered upon earlier in the year. PS Plus was still riding its PS5 hype train, where the service played a huge role in supporting the community and new hardware. The past few months haven’t, in turn, been exactly ideal. PS Plus fans have been upset with the offerings since practically August, bringing the year down a little. Notably, November is a bit more of a mixed batch—a lot of fans didn’t enjoy it but it’s hard to deny the quality of the service when it offers 6 games in total, effectively.
And that, in turn, is likely the way December 2021 is going to go. Nothing was offered to celebrate Halloween in PS Plus’ free October games, and it’s doubtful that December will see any end-of-the-year celebration surprises. It’s not impossible, but as it stands, it seems the year will end with a whimper for PS Plus. December isn’t looking too good, but that isn’t all bad news.
PS Plus Free Games for December 2021

Right now, there is no indication of what fans can expect to see in December. Sometimes, fans are able to predict the games that will release because they usually have a release date corresponding with the first Tuesday of the month (December 7), can’t be pre-order, and so on. The only game that somewhat matches these criteria is SpellForce 3 Reforced, a console release for a PC game that blended RTS and RPG elements. It has average-to-good reviews and might be an acceptable PS Plus game, but it can be pre-ordered, effectively eliminating it from the running.
What is likely, however, is that December is likely to mirror November, offering a couple of PS4/PS5/PSVR games. November didn’t have a PS5 dedicated game like past months did, and this may be indicative of a change, however temporary. November didn’t have a PS5 game because Sony really had nothing in its line-up releasing or would work, and the same is for December. So, while the year started strong, it seems like it’ll end remarkably weaker.
