Capcom fans have been waiting for Rival Schools to get more representation in fighting games since Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, and the time has finally come for the often overlooked series to join mainline Street Fighter.
Akira Kazama is looking like she's received a lot of love for her inclusion in Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition, and that carries over to her costumes as well considering they're all nice references to her Rival Schools days — yes, even her maid outfit.
The most obvious of them is of course her story costume since it was Akira's original default look in the first game when she was hiding the fact that she was a girl while searching for her brother, Daigo.
Meanwhile, her SF5 default attire is almost identical to that of her United by Fate alternate when she finally removes the cool biker helmet and jacket.

It's very rare to see Akira actually wearing her official school uniform, but that's what we're getting for her SF5 battle costume after transferring to Seijyun High School in Project Justice.
The other two you'd be easily forgiven for not immediately recognizing because we never got to see them in the West when the games first released.
The console version of Rival Schools in Japan (and its update that also didn't leave the country) featured a bonus game mode called Nekketsu Seisyun Nikki, which essentially played out like a school life / dating simulator where players could create their own character and go through a special story.

In said mode, Akira can be seen working for her class' café in the school festival event where she wears a maid outfit that's now become her nostalgia costume in SF5.
Similarly, her summer costume swimsuit is also pulled from the beach event although I've been unable to find a reference tied to the tracksuit, which is the case for pretty much everyone in SF5.
It's really nice to see Capcom willing to dig through a character's history who hasn't really been relevant to many in decades and give fans just about everything they could ask for.

Hopefully these moves are a sign of things to come for Capcom's fighting game division moving into their next endeavors.
Just like Oro, Akira will be hitting the stage in Street Fighter 5 on August 16, so let us know in the comments what costume you're going to use when she drops.
